We are situated in beautiful countryside at the foot of the
Yorkshire Wolds, approximately 10 miles from the historic city of York.
Florence, Peggy, Lola, Harriet, Lottie, Felicity and Henry our seven pedigree Kune Kune pigs live happily outside
where they have plenty of space to do what pigs do.
Lottie is a very beautiful 'tricolour', dark ginger with black
and cream splodges and Felicity,
a pretty and inquisitive little black and white gilt with piri piri will
be ready for a litter of her own next year.
Our breeding girls are of the 'Jenny' bloodline, they are of good conformation and are the smaller kune
kunes, they are extremely tame
and friendly and come running when they see us.
Previous litters have gone far and wide to such places as Milton Keynes, The
Lake District and The Scottish Borders, we often receive news and
photos from their new owners and are really pleased that they are so settled, it
is good to hear of their adventures together.
You are welcome to visit our kunes, of course without obligation as we
simply like showing them off.
January 2012 Happy New Year from all at oak House Farm We still have 2 little chubby brothers available,
one black and white and one black with piri piri, they are friendly little castrated boars and will make
great pets, however, we do require that they be re homed as a pair. At the moment they
are putting in a guest appearance at the award winning Balloon Tree Farm Shop in
Gate Helmsley near York for a while where they are getting lots of attention, why not pop over and see them there. Please
get in touch with us if you are interested in them, you are always quite welcome to
visit us here with no obligation and meet all our adult Kunes, and we will
happily spend time talking you through their needs. We were very sad to lose
our lovely pet sheep Teddy in the summer and we miss him plodding over to have his
velvety nose rubbed, his pal Daisy still looks a little bewildered and we are
working on finding her a new companion..We have been to visit a local herd of
beautiful Jacob sheep and hope to add some lambs to the smallholding in the
Spring. One of the photographs from our
website, 'Brotherly Love' has recently been reproduced in water colour by a
very talented lady called Celia Lewis and features in her new book 'The
Illustrated Guide to Pigs'. It is a beautiful book with lots of interesting
pig facts and info and would also make a great present for any pig enthusiast, she
has also written about keeping chickens, you can see her work on her website www.celialewis.co.uk Previous years litters
from Oak House Farm have
all settled well in their new homes and all of their new owners have been in touch to tell us how much they are
enjoying them.
'Widget'
and 'Frodo's' owners obtained a walking license for them and got lots of
attention walking them round their village!
Lucy Dusgate's piglet won 2
prizes in the Penistone show including achieving 1st for 'prettiest piglet in
show'. After much deliberation we have decided to find new homes for Peggy
and Florence, we have retired them from breeding as they have grown into quite
big girls for kunes but they will make excellent pet pigs. Peggy
and Florence are 7 year old sisters, tri coloured pedigree Kune Kunes
and very tame, friendly and inquisitive as we have all made a fuss of them
since they joined us here at 8 weeks old, they are clever girls and will sit
for apple! They need a genuine new home together where they can have a bit of fuss now and then (and
an apple) and enough space to do what pigs do. If you are interested in providing
a caring new home for them please get in touch with us to discuss their needs. Lola
is also to be retired from breeding after her second caesarean so she and her
companion Harriet will also be looking for new homes as pets. Lola is a small
ginger kune and Harriet a medium sized black sow, both very friendly. Please
come down to meet them if you are interested. ! |
