We are situated in beautiful countryside at the foot of the
Yorkshire Wolds, approximately 12 miles from the historic city of York.
Florence, Peggy, Lola, Harriet, Lottie, Margot and Henry our seven pedigree Kune Kune pigs live happily outside
where they have plenty of space to do what pigs do.
Two of our breeding girls are of the 'Kereopa' bloodline and the other two
are
'Jenny's'.
Lola is a lovely bright ginger and her daughter Lottie (who was born in our
garage by emergency caesarean last year and hand reared on SMA baby milk) is
ginger with black spots, very
pretty!
Harriet is black with a few cream and ginger specks and Margot is a gorgeous
little black 'gold tip', they are all extremely tame
and friendly and come running when they see us.
Previous litters have gone far and wide to such places as Milton Keynes, The
Lake District and The Scottish Borders, we often receive news and
photos from their new owners and are really pleased that they are so settled, it
is good to hear of their adventures together.
You are welcome to visit our kunes, of course without obligation as we
simply like showing them off.
June 2010 Lola unfortunately had to have another
caesarean this year but her 4 piglets are doing well now, they are going
through boxes and boxes of weetabix and getting quite chubby as a result, we
plan to introduce them to piglet weaner nuts next, fingers crossed! Lottie
and Margot are now a year old so we hope they too will have litters later this
year if we can find a boar small enough for them. Previous years litters have
all settled well in their new homes and all of their new owners have been in touch to tell us how much they are
enjoying them.
'Widget'
and 'Frodo's' owners have a walking license for them and get lots of
attention walking them round their village! Lucy Dusgate's piglet won 2
prizes in the Penistone show including achieving 1st for 'prettiest piglet in
show'. After much deliberation we have decided to find new homes for Peggy
and Florence, we have retired them from breeding as they have grown into quite
big girls for kunes but they will make excellent pet pigs. Peggy
and Florence are 4 year old sisters, tri coloured pedigree Kune Kunes
and very tame, friendly and inquisitive as we have all made a fuss of them
since they joined us here at 8 weeks old, they are clever girls and will sit
for apple! They need a genuine new home together where they can have a bit of fuss now and then (and
an apple) and enough space to do what pigs do. If you are interested in providing
a caring new home for them please get in touch with us to discuss their needs. Lola
is also to be retired from breeding after her second caesarean so she and her
companion Harriet will also be looking for new homes as pets. The
hens are laying well now and we now have 3 pretty little Welsummer chicks from
the beautiful pair of Welsummers we bought in the spring. ! |
